B. Objective

1. Create awareness regarding the importance of mental health and social adaptation.
2. If possible to provide necessary mental health services.
3. Make people at large aware of the need and importance of mental health services.
4. Organize various scientific and general discussion programs regarding mental health.
5. Encourage local people to organize and participate actively in this program.
6. Encourage the sufferer to remain productive and active as much as possible.
7. Integrate the families of the sufferer in this program and encourage early intervention.
8. Provide regular counselling for a useful support system.
9. Search for an appropriate rehabilitation program.
10. Help the psychiatry patients and their families to sustain in the society with dignity.

C. Status

1. Approximately 2 crores population of India are suffering from serious mental health problems.
2. Most of them and their families are living in extreme poverty.
3. They have no access to mental health services of National health infrastructure.
4. The person afflicted with mental health problems are heavily stigmatized in our society.
5. There are heavy superstitions and backwardness among people regarding mental health problems.
6. Poor people and females are heavily neglected in mental health problems.
7. Mental health service infrastructure are negligible throughout the country mostly in rural areas.
8. National mental health budget is so poor that our people are destined to suffer in any mental health problems in coming decades.
9. Mental health problems are intimately related to physical health but often neglected.
10. Families of mental health patients are worst sufferer in our society.
